Champion Fire Protection is a privately owned company that operates in Queensland and Northern New South Wales specialising in the design, installation and maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment.

Paul Graham and Chris McGuire (Financial & Operational Managers) have worked together on many large projects over a 20 year period with Paul managing the maintenance, design and installation of the fire alarm and evacuation systems and Chris managing the maintenance, installation and design of the fire sprinkler, hydrant and hose reel systems.

The company is licensed in Queensland with QBCC. Lic No1191167 and is a member of the National Fire Protection Industry Association. Please refer to our work history document for qualifications and experience.

CHRIS MCGUIRE

 Position:-   Fire Sprinkler Manager

Qualifications:-

  • BSA Nominee Supervisor License No 1005610
  • Fire Protection Industry Board License No 766

Technical Experience:-

  • 1986 – 1991 Wormald Fire Systems – Designing fire sprinklers, fire hydrants and hose reels including fire pumpset
  • 1991 – 2010 Premier Fire Protection – Construction manager specializing in the design and installation of fire services. The work covered in this time includes the design, installation and certification of fire services to major sporting complexes, shopping centers, health facilities, education facilities, residential high rises, high rise hotels, suppression systems, multi level car parks and airport terminals.

Professional Attributes:- 

  • Extensive experience in the design of fire sprinkler systems in all types of buildings including high-rises, warehouses and shopping centre complexes.
  • Highly experienced in Project Management of fire services which include fire sprinklers, fire alarms and fire hydrant and hose reel systems.
  • Full knowledge of the QFRS requirements with regards to inspection and testing of the fire systems to achieve building compliance and a successful handover.
  • Complete understanding of the Australian Standards AS2941 (Fire Pumps), AS2118 (Fire Sprinklers),AS2419 (Fire Hydrants) and the Building Code of Australia. 
  • Full commitment to the Occupational Health and Safety Policies on all our projects.

  • Experience and understanding all brands of fire panels and evacuation systems used in Australia and the contacts and knowledge to overcome any installation requirement.
  • Ability to undertake complex interfaces with other services and trades.
  • An excellent understanding of the BCA and applicable standards and the application of these codes and standards to projects.
  • Ability to produce all documentation as required by clients for project completion.
  • Experience to assess design documentation and identify short falls or over design.
  • The knowledge to design layouts for installations to meet all codes and standards.
